If it was made well, I'd go see a movie about Turkish history.

"A movie" No. Turkey has enough history and drama to make MANY movies. 1923 could be a trilogy, I think, maybe more.

From an American perspective, there have been countless movies about World War 2. Some of them are really outstanding, and some of them are just dumb, but my point is that certain eras have a lot of opportunities for stories, whether true or false, which would capture the imagination of people who had never thought about Turkey maybe.

Of course it's true, if you leave it to Hollywood to get the American audience, you'll have Tom Cruise playing Ataturk as an action hero and there will be Ataturk toys in the McDonald's Happy Meals. That's how we do things in the US. :)

An accurate one would be good , but if it comes out of Hollywood then you would have to expect the likes of Vin Diesel or Stallone single handed defeating the Anzac's at Gallipolli whilst ignoring orders from Ataturk.

perhaps the true story about the Ottoman Turks who defended the Dugouts before the ill fated charge of the Light Brigade in the Crimean war.

It sounds a good idea but Troy is a inseperable part of our country and also our culture.. After beating Greeks in 1992 Ataturk told that "We got revenge of Troy"..

"Osmancık" was the good example of nadir films about turkish history.. "Kınalı Kuzular" too..

The bigger the event, the harder its filming.

I still can't think of any actor capable enough to capture Atatürk. I still can't think of a screenwriter capable enough to capture the despair, the hope, the bravado and the victory of the War of Independence.

We have started seeing movies about the 1980s. I think we will keep on going back in time, learn better filming, better cinema language and when we finally reach the founding of our state, we will make a blast of a movie. I am hopeful.

I think , Dardanelles war at 1915 will be enough . Especially land fights. This war is the foreword of the Turkish Republic.

And It's too interesting that ; both sides are flighted like lions , lost 500.000 young man and at the end they become (Anzac's & Turk's ) friend, at this battle field.

It's too inportant . You see 500.000 deat body but you still remember that you are a human and you can be a friend.

Like Ataturk said to Anzac mum's.(summary of it ) Dont worry for your sons. They become our sons also and sleaping with our soldiers in peice now and forever.

I want to see this movie.

Yes, we need.

And a Turkish actor must act Atatürk (like Haluk Bilginer in the ad).

If a movie were made of this county and was made to show the greats/wonderful things in our society, and show our history in a triumphant way, it would be conceived as propaganda in other countries. There are many movies showcasing "true" stories of amazing people throughout America's history. But to show a movie, compromising of all our history, would have to have alot left out, to show us in a good way. Also America has only been around for 231 years, we don't have near the history that other cultures have.

yes I agree but I guess they would have to make quite a few movies...

I like 'independence war' as a movie to show the world nothing is impossible for us and how strong our nation is....and what a big leader we have had..
