Give him a lot of attention. Molly, our lab, is also an indoor dog. I have to give her insulin twice a day, and when I finish, I hug her, rub her ears, and tell her what a good dog she is--she actually likes her shots now! She gets a treat as a reward each time she goes outside, and she gets the very last bite of food--not enough to hurt her, just enough for her to get a treat of "human food." My husband gets her up on the bed, throws the covers over her and "wrestles" with her--it may sound like he's being mean, but that tail is beating madly the whole time!

Lots of love and attention and playtime.

Stuffed animals, toys and the treat my dogs love best are bully sticks. They last a long time.

Labs.....crazy until the age of 2!
There are doggie spas where you can pay for your lab to get the attention.
A massage can be done by you that will be beneficial to your dog and yourself!

Because they are energetic by nature, the best thing you can do since he is inside a lot is to give him things that will keep him content and healthy. As the get older, large dogs who lay on hard surfaces like hard floor tend to arthritis a little easier than others. Get a nice cushioned pillow/bed large enough for your baby to lay and turn around in. Second to keep his mind active buy him a toys and switch them around occasionally. Toys like the kong that you can stuff peanut butter into helps to keep him busy. Make sure he has enough "good" thing to chew on like bones pig ears etc. If they are bored with the stuff you give them or they don't have enough to keep them active than they will find always find other things that usually means YOUR stuff to mess with. You can also by a hamster ball and put a toy in it. As it is pushed around the house the ball will eventually open allowing your dog to get a treat or favorite toy. Just a few ideas that I hope helps. Just remember to pick items that will keep him busy and going and won't cause too much of a mess to clean up later. The main thing is to prevent boredom while protecting health.

Dogs love rawhide and chew toys. Especially because hes a sport breed, he'll need as much exercise as he can get. So giving him stimulating things to chew on can help. Make sure when buying chew toys, find toys meant for your dog. In regards to age/size/weight/type of chewer. In regards to rawhide, ideally strive to find rawhide made in America, because in other countries, rawhide can come from diseased animals. Also find other actives to keep your dog moving, again he'll need alot of exercise. There is a Kong, football, that you can put treats in and your dog has to figure out how to get the treats out. Anything that can stimulate his mind, and cause him to be moving around will be great for him.

Bu treating him like a dog, first and foremost. Make sure he has a crate to be in when you are not around, make sure you train him in obedience using methods other then the non-sense going around today and that you make him understand that negative cause=negative effect. Good luck!
