The Secretary General of the UN cannot belong to any of the permanent members of the security council. Thus, the US will never have a Secretary General, neither will Russia, UK, France, China.

Bill Clinton has had his eye on the sec-gen position at the UN for a while now.
It would fit in perfect with his corrupt socialist ideology. There has never been an American sec-gen, so I think there would be very good chance of Bill leading the UN, despite what Hillary does in the election.
If both were in office, oh no. Say goodbye to our freedom as Americans, the rest of the socialist world would demand that we be their slaves.

I think the current Secy General of the UN has a 5 year term and he'll still have at least 3 years to go on it as of Jan 2009. Hillary is pretty conservative actually. No matter how you look at her policies, there is no way she can be characterized as "the Ultimate Liberal".

The United States is one of the 5 Permanent Security Council members, so it therefore not eligible to be Secretary General, because it would be a huge conflict of interest.

The UN's habit is to install some third world knuckle-head in the Sec Gen job. Somebody who has no experience in running a large military or a complicated, successful economy.
I don't see a whole lot of people linning up to enlist in an armed forces under the control of the UN.
