I have never heard or seen any of PWH shows.

i LOVED pee wee back in the day...paul reubens (AKA pee wee) is also producing a pee wee's playhouse movie scheduled to premiere in 2009...i can't wait!!!

This happened over a decade ago.
He was huge here with Pee Wees Playhouse on TV. Young and old enjoyed his antics.
And he did a few in character successful movies as well Pee Wees Big Adventure ( Directed by Tim Burton) and Big top Pee Wee which were very successful.
There isn't really too many similarity's between the two characters. Childlike loners maybe? Paul Reuben's developed his character and he first appeared on TV as Pee Wee in 1981 on HBO
Mr Bean appeared first in the early 90s on TV. So is Mr Bean the UKs version of Peewee would more accurate time-wise.
At the height of his popularity he was arrested for masturbating in an adult theater which distroyed his career ..
then years later he was arrested under suspicion of owning child pornography but it was dropped down to a charge of obscenity with a $100 fine when it was revealed they were very old art magazines that contained a few pics of children amongst its pages and some very old nudist magazines.
Peewees Playhouse is supposed to start filming as a Paramount film in 2007 for a 2009 release.
He was a genius of comedy in that character as well is Mr Bean

Pee Wee Herman had a kids show, which was not all that bad. He also made, I think, two movies around that Pee Wee Herman character. Because of an incident in his private life ( not the Pee Wee character) he was taken off the air when he was arrested for, lets say "questionable act" in a movie theatre.

He is actually a really funny guy, used to have a tv show (Pee-Wee's Playhouse) and then some movies that were hilarious (Big Adventure, Big Top Pee Wee). Yes, he got caught beating off in an adult cinema (so what?) so that ruined his career somehow. He was in the movie Blow since then, but I haven't seen him in much else. I think he got a bad rap. What else do people do watching adult films?

Paul Reubens aka Pee Wee Herman got caught in an adult cinema back in 1991 when detectives allegedly saw him playing with his private parts. He paid a fine and did a Public Service Announcement and his records were sealed which didn't leave him with a record.
He had a children's show on CBS and after this incident, they cancelled his show.
In 2002, he had charges of Child Pornography but they were later dropped.
