I live in a big city. I am fully aware that I will never encounter a larage cat of any kind here--- never mind get killed by one. When I'm walking by a bunch of trees or bushes I irrationally panic and convince myself that there is a tiger or lion or other large cat ready to pounce on me. Sometimes it even gets so bad that I convince myself that these big cats are in my home so I lock myself in a small room where I can see everything in front of me. This is truely pathetic, but when I get in those mental states I feel like it is legitimate. A lot of my fear has to do with the fact that tigers and lions bite the necks of their prey to kill them and that jaguars bite through their preys skull. I also convince myself that these wild cats could be in a city setting by escaping captivity. What in the name of God can I do. This is taking over my mind. I know how ridiculous this is, but I can't help it. It's not bears or sharks or anything. It's large wild cats. WTF. What can I do for help???

Somewhere, sometime in your childhood years, someone or something messed up your mind and told you these stories.
Getting a consultation with a psychologist may not be a bad idea, but it is expensive. Darn. I can see why you resorted to Yahoo A. *grin* We dont cost a dime. LOL

My unprofessional advice is to get regression hypnotherapy ( how much is that?) and try to recall the exact moment and the evil person who fed you that line which you believe to this day.

For all you know,m you had been bullied by a big kid holding a regular kitty cat and saying " Here comes the tiger, Growl, it is ready to pounce ! Now for the kill!!!!!!!!!" and just found it hilarious that you would cower in total fear. A swat by the kitty cat or the sight of its nails might have been already terrifying to you. You could have been 2 or 4 yrs old.

Check out your siblings.

the ideal thank you to deal alongside with your worry is to stand it. the two pass to a zoo or a nature reserve (ideally with a properly pronounced instruction manual or ranger) and function them clarify or permit you be attentive to tale approximately cats. in no way permit worry overtake you. maximum individuals have this worry of ghosts. i do no longer. i'm extra traumatic of the "living" style than the ineffective ones. Why? spirits, opposite to action picture and familiar perception, do no longer injury you. Cats and different tom cats do no longer and could no longer injury you till you enter their area. They do this no longer for something yet to proceed to exist coz they se you as nutrition. consequently do no longer pass everywhere close to cat area. you're letting worry get the better of you. have you ever feared going to the wellness practitioner once you have been a toddler or taking an extremely annoying examination given by making use of an extremely mean instructor? comparable. Face it. do no longer permit it get the ideal of you.

I would go to a zoo and confront my fear. If you need to then talk to a counselor and work out this issue.
