I don't know about you, but I can't help but feel that wrestling has turned into the sodding Bold and The Beautiful. I have wrestling videos from the 80's people - and EVERY moment of those videos is enjoyable. You'd almost believe what you were seeing was real!
Nowdays it's all about ratings - what about the days when wrestlers had a story? They weren't just "identities" - you watched them and believed what they said and did. The Undertaker said he was the Prince of Darkness and he carried the act off superbly. Now all of the sudden he can be a biker and then the Prince of Darkness again? Oh come off it!
Bret Hart. Macho Man. Hulk Hogan - now these guys were respected for a reason. They were believable. I have no respect for wrestlers now because its all completely over the top and its just gotten silly.
I say wrestling was better in the past - WHO'S WITH ME?! :) (But if you're not, you're still welcome to have your say.)

Dr Doom, I guess he's just trying to draw in more people with flashier plot lines. It should be all about the wrestling. Not makin' money.

I agree with you there Grumpy. Its gone from seeming completely random to looking really staged and phony.

I agree! Wrestling was way better years back, now it seems all about rating and $$. They're still good athletes, I'd never be able to do what they do and still be standing at the end of it, but it's just gotten silly now. I haven't watched for about 6 years, so I can only imagine its gotten worse!

It's all Vince McMahon's bidding. I started watching it in the late 90's and I was hooked. I still watch WWE occassionally, but I really miss WCW and ECW--before McMahon took them over.
