For the last 4 or 5 days I have had really sore and itchy boobs, the whole boob and nipple area is really scratchy and the are so tender even walking hurts them.
I have irregular periods and I never know when I'm about to get them, sometimes I could go for a year without a period but besides it being my periods is there any other reason my boobs are like this?

I have already had my irregular periods checked out with a gyno a few years ago and go for regular check ups, so this is not what is worrying me. But the itching is a new development!! I am only 26 years old so it is not the menopause either

I am not sure of the reason but get a tube of Hydro cortisone cream. The 1 percent is sold across the counter and is helpful with the itching.

This could be an eczema or psoriasis.

If that doesn't help see your Doctor for an opinion and a prescription of 2% Hydrocorisone cream. It really knocks out an itch.

I just remembered something. Many years ago I washed a white sheer curtain with my white things (bras). I also began itching like crazy. Breasts only. I finally determined that I got fiberglass from the sheers in the bras and the fibers were causing the problems. After rewashing and drying my undies I was fine.

Think about your laundry did you wash anything unusual with your bras? Good Luck.

You haven't mentioned how old you are - if you are late 30s and up you may be peri-menopausal. I get this too and much to my horror at 38 I found I was peri-menopausal!
My doc also said to be careful when washing my bras as the washing machine may not be washing out the powder well enough. I overload my washing machine so this is probably true.
Mine were also hard (like when I was breast feeding) and I ever had leakage ..... all was hormonal - he gave me Yasmin to right the hormones .....he said to take it for 3 months .... which I did and all symptoms went away .... Good luck

It is possible it is thrush which is a fungal infection. If it is fungus or thrush, hydro- cortisone will only make it worse. Your best bet would be to ask your Doctor what to use for thrush. There are good over the counter anti fungal creams. But not every one can kill every fungus.

Applying an antifungal cream like (mycostatin, clotrimazole, myconazole) to your nipples could fix you up. But you might need something your doctor suggests or prescribes that is stronger.

you really should see a gyno... having your period all out of whack could be messing you up... you need to make sure whats wrong is not an emergency... if it is i think you have waited long enough.... seriously...i don't care how shy your are or whether or not you HAVE a gyno... you need to go now! there is no excuse for waiting especially when it comes to something like this... you could seriously mess up your body...
