o.k., three week's ago i was standing in my kitchen when all of a sudden this bird smack's into my window then gets up and fly's off, don't know what kind of bird, just yr average suburban one's about medium size, then today again the same thing happened!, neither of them went into the house and this has never happened in the 3yrs i've been here, what do you think? could this mean something?

birds are seen as messengers from god/'gods'. so, from a superstitious view, you are preoccupied with less important things and miss some point.
they also bring news, so expect something more or less 'big'.

i'd agree with the answerers above, tho' - too clean windows (if there could be such thing!)

A bird hitting your window is not the same thing as say a black cat crossing in front of you under a ladder. It sounds like a theme for the movie "the Birds" If it happens 3 times I would begin to wonder but I'd be safe to say it means nothing.

Well I think I can beat that one. Three years ago a hen blackbird raised three broods close to our back door and we got to know her quite well. We fed her and she used to fly close to us and feed off the garden table whilst we sat there. In short, she knew us well. After her broods left the nest she developed the habit of flying up against one of out back windows and kept repeating this behaviour over and over for hours on end. She would flutter and batter against the same spot twenty or thirty times in any one hour. This pattern of behaviour continued for weeks and then stopped. This year she raised another brood in a neighbours garden and after her fledglings had flown, resumed her attention to out window in the same spot. She is there now, bang, bang, bang, flutter, flutter. We have tried chasing her off but it makes not the least bit of difference, she just keeps battering the window. We have decided that she has some sort of fascination for this window and its reflection or maybe she is just hell bent on getting into the house. Nothing superstitious I'm afraid, just a poor demented blackbird with a fascination or a compulsive behaviour disorder.

birds hit windows all the time chasing bugs etc... your windows are clean so the bird just thinks there is an opening to go through

;) This means you may want to put some 'bird silhouette' stickers on your window, because the little blighters can't see the glass and you're likely on a migratory route.
