He was an adult. Even if you tried to intervene, you could not be with him 24/7. He chose the lifestyle, so don't beat yourself up on what could've or should've been done. I am sure you miss him, but focus on the good memories. Sorry about your loss.

I've lost several of my ole party friends over the years! After several yearsrof hard partying (after Viet Nam), I made a CHOICE, got clean&sober, and it hasn't been all that easy!! But several ole pals have passed away, they made their choice too! I miss & love em still!!

We all have only one life to live and we have to take care and love it.
It is us... who makes our life .... whatever we want it to be.
Don't blame yourself on this. He's mature enough and he knows the consequences before he did that. May he RIP.
Hope that this thing will serve as a good lesson for all of us.
