It's probably because you allow her to sleep all day. It's ok to let her sleep for awhile, then wake her up and play with her awhile, then let her take a little nap and so on. You need to turn her sleeping pattern around by making sleeping pattern changes for her. Making her stay awake a liitle longer during the day is going to make her more tired at night.

All babies are different. Some babies dont develop a routine till they are about a year. However, for YOUR sanity, you should try everything to change her routine!! I tried a number of things and they ended up working....
1) try and keep her up during the day as much as possible
2)let her cry herself to sleep at night (its okay to do that after the age of 3 months) (not for an hour or so, but you understand what i mean)
3) Johnson and Johnson bed time bath is WONDERFUL!!! right after i give my son a bath he is ready for bed!! and it smells good
4) take a drive (granted your baby likes care rides) plan a road trip durng night.....i went to TN at night to see in laws (8 hrs) and after that trip he started sleeping through the night becuase he sept in the car the whole 8 hrs!
5) Warm milk at night helps baby sleep
6) Those sea mobiles seem to help many children also.
good luck!!

Hi
My son was exactly the same. I started on a routine and it worked wonders. I was never going to do the routine thing but I found it much better for me.
7am wake her and feed her.
8am fed solids.
9am put her to sleep
11am wake her and feed her
12pm feed solids
1pm put to bed
3pm wake her and feed her
4.30pm let her have a nap in a pram/car/anywhere but her bed because this is just a nap
5.15pm wake her
5.30 feed solids
6pm bath
6.30 feed her formula or breast
7pm bed
if she wakes at night then feed her but put her straight back to bed. she may cry a bit but after a few days should settle down.
A book called save our sleep by tizzie hall is a great one to follow. She is a sleep expert and her book sure helped me! It is available on line. Just do a search and you will find it.
Good luck

She just has a bad schedule going on. When she naps during the day, only let her nap about 2 hours then keep her up until bed time.
A nice warm bottle helps a baby sleep nicely.

I suggest you read the contented little baby book by Gina Ford and try to get your baby into a better routine. It worked for me and you can adapt the routine a bit to suit you..

She's in a bad routine, don't let it become a life-long habit, its just not practical. She's not a vampire.

Babies will sleep whenever they darn well please.
She'll eventually change it around.
Different feeding patterns also helped.
