There is no reason to cook porridge with oils. Don't put oil in. :)

no not with oils. Its too harsh on a baby's digestive system.

Make porridge with formula, breastmilk or water. Strain the porridge through a seive to make it less lumpy.

Avoid any oils, salts, spices or flavours in a baby this young. Make everything fairly plain and in small amounts to begin with. Try each new thing for one week to check for allergic reaction before trying the next new food.
Pumpkin, Potato, Carrot, Swede, Turnip, Parsnip, Sweet Potato (yams) are all good foods to try first. Just steam a pot full and puree till smooth (adding no extra things). Freeze in icecube trays and pop on or two out at each meal time.
Then move onto the sweeter foods like banana, pureed apple, pear etc....
