I love this idea! I hope you have fun with it! And, happy birthday to Grammy! :)

1932: The first woman is elected to the US Senate, Hattie Caraway of Arkansas.

1941: Pearl Harbor, Hawaii is attacked by Japanese military forces. This will result in a declaration of war between Japan and the United States.

1958: Explorer I, first U.S. satellite, was launched.

1963: President John F. Kennedy is assassinated.

1970: The Beatles break up, causing foundations to break in rock history.

1976: America celebrates it's 200th birthday!

1986: Haley's Comet returns to the skies. Many people got to catch a glimpse of this beauty, high in the sky, in space.

1993: An intense blizzard takes a toll on many states in the eastern part of the USA, as well as affecting the rest of the east coast with rain, wind, and snow from Florida to Canada.

2000: The new millennium strikes! Will the world end, will we all perish? Surely not! :o

Your Grandmom may not remember this since she was 8 years old, but you must include Wrong Way Corrigan's flight.

1938 - "Wrong Way" Corrigan, an American, flew from Brooklyn to Ireland, even though he was supposed to be flying to California. He claimed that his unauthorized flight was due to a navigational error, that he misread his compass. He had been refused permission to make a nonstop flight from New York to Ireland, so his "navigational error" was a protest against government red tape. He never publicly acknowledged having flown to Ireland intentionally.
