Years ago when I haven't really read the Bible and other related literature, I might have done so, you know at certain times, days or seasons of the year, or certain feasts or certain holidays. But still not that much, because I have always known inside me that there was inherently something wrong with doing so.

But after I have been set free and have known the truth. I now have a better understanding of what prayer is or how to pray.

If one is to read Matthew 6:7, and even the whole chapter and other related verses, one can see what Jesus of Nazareth have said about praying.

There is prayer for the Assembled faithful.
There is prayer which is personal, or by yourself, alone.

When I pray to speak for the assembly I try to make it short as possible, and coming from the heart. But bearing in mind the needs of others, sometimes it might sound like a litany.

When I pray alone, two things can happen. Either it is too long because I am in top form, or I can fall back in bed and fail to finish cuz too tired and sleepy. Either way, hope God understands.

I only recite the Lord's Payer.

and i like to read before i go to sleep the Psalm's of David.

God says we should pray without ceasing, so any 1 sentence or 4 words prayer is still a prayer.

When I'm saying my novenas, I do follow the "required text" but most of the time, I just say my prayers extemporaneously. To me, praying is conversing with my God. And just like most conversations, it is unrehearsed and straight from the heart.

No, I want it coming from my heart and not just with my mind.
Talking to God like talking to a brother or father is a form of prayer. I open to him all my worries, happiness and everything.
