They collect several spots of blood on to circles in blotting paper. These are sent to the Pathology Lab which may be, but is not necessarily at the Hospital. There are a number of screening tests which are running to check your child is not suffering from an congenital illness such as Thyroid deficiency or an inherited metabolic disorder such as phenylketonuria. The blood is eluted from the punched out blood spots and tested in a number of ways. Your midwife will tell you all the tests they do. I am not sure whether the test the blood group. If there is sickle cell disease in the family this may be checked.

In the UK, they will not tell you the blood type of your child from the heelprick test, nor will the laboratory they send it to check this. This test is purely to determine whether your child may have a genetic disorder such as sickle cell. If you are a rare blood type and wish to know if your child is that same rare type then you will have to make an appointment with your doctor and have a separate test done to determine this.

Ours (australia) goes to a pathology lab in conjunction with the hospital but are then kept on record with some public governement agency/place. Its optional to do this.
Otherwise, try phoning the health visitor or midwife and asking them where to find out. Or get your doctor to find out for you what his blood group is. He could do a simple Diabetes like finger prick (quite painless and very very quick compared to the heel prick) and they can test his blood group.

I would think the people at your GP would know where this is, as they would get the repies back from them...i

Your little lady continues to be very youthful and the well-being customer will comprehend which you have greater substantial concerns on your palms than a spotless domicile. Plus keep in mind she would have considered plenty plenty worse throughout the time of her visits than clean laundry drying.
