Ok, I'm planning to get the XBox 360 tomorrow, but today most of my friends said that it has an extreme heating problem and that it would easily die on me in one week! They recommended PS2, well as much as I love PS2, I prefer the XBox for the games and better graphics. Is it really ok to get the XBox 360? what's the deal with the overheating problems? or maybe I should get the PS2 instead? help me.

I know how you feel about getting a 360 but, I agree with some of the others here too in that the newer models are more likely to have corrected flaws and that taking precautions to avoid over-heating is a good idea.

I too have beeen wanting a 360 but, am glad that I've waited as most consoles, upon first release are often buggy. Waiting can be painful but, it's usually worth it in the long run.

As for the PS2, it's still holding it's on. The price is decent for a successful last gen system, it's backward compatable, still has a sizeable library of new games at decent prices as well as a lot of good older games that can be found at Game Stop/EB Games fairly cheap and is a good DVD player.

However, the PS2's primary flaw is that it tends to have trouble reading non-DVD format games such as PS1 and some early PS2 games.

Mine played okay for about 6 months before it began to reject non-DVD format games. It has something to do with a deffect in the lens. I don't know if this flaw has been corrected in the new silver PS2's but, it may be a good idea to do some research on it before you make your decision.

Good luck!

Xbox 360...

Nope DEFINITELY Xbox 360!

There is no such heating problems if you take really good care of it...

Just leave it in open space, dont leave it stading, as it will cover one of the ventalation sides, and give it a 15 minute break if you are a heavy gamer.

Xbox 360 has 2 much good games.

On the other hand PS2, pfft....

Thats like buying a PS1 now, it is reffered to past-gen-consoles, not much good games for it, and Sony are 2 busy with PS3, to be worrying about PS2...

Plus there is an additional warranty, so dont worry.

I would say get the 360. I just bought mine and I haven't stopped playing since i got it. I love it. Microsoft fixed the extreme heating problem by putting in new heatsinks on the newer 360s that came out after march 2007. It still can overheat though. Just put it in a well ventilated place.

Or you can get the ps3. Its only $50 more of the 360. That way you can play ps2 games and ps3 games.

PS2 Vs the 360 is no contest my 360 has brought me months of joy, save the warranty, all new 360s have fixed the overheating problem but if you got a crappy one Microsoft was more than efficient in replacing my old one.

Don't worry. Use some common sense when you set it up (meaning, like with all electronics it should be well ventilated) and you'll be fine. Microsoft has also extended the warranty to three years, so if it does happen you are good. I don't know why your friends would recommend a PS2. It is pretty much a dead system and last gen.

360 rocks the problem with the overheating is covered by the free warranty/repair. Just keep it well ventilated and maybe purchase a xbox approved intercooler or even a laptop cooling pad and you should be ok
