I have listened to (or seen) 40 or 50 Operas so far.
My favorite is "Il Barbiere di Siviglia", i guess is an unsurpassable masterwork.
I like also "Lucia di Lammermoor", but Rossini rules!
What about you?

Madame Butterfly or La Boheme to sit and watch, there's nothing quite like a good old cry surrounded by hundreds of people doing the same...!

To analyse, Krenek's 'Jonny Spielt Auf' is an interesting blend of popular and 'high art', or Verdi's 'Macbeth' - Lady Macbeth is one of the most interesting mad heroines in the repertoire.

Carmen---The Habanera song is really cool

But I also like The Magic Flute and The Marriage of Figaro. They sing these songs really high but still in a good order.

I have to join with the others and say Carmen.

But I also enjoyed the music from The Marriage of Figaro.

Both of these opera's have terrific overtures.

Phantom is not an Opera it's a musical and they are very different. My favorite Opera is Fidelio by Beethoven. It's his only Opera and alot of people don't like it, but I think it's awesome.

Well, it varies from time to time.

Carmen is absolutely a perfect piece of work.

But now I feel like saying Pelleas et Melisande.

Don Giovanni.

"Phantom" is not an opera - it is a stage musical.

Actually, Cat Lady - Carmina Burana (as wonderful as it is) is not an opera either.
