Poems are not made just from inspiration, but also out of hard work, so if one day you feel it is more difficult for you to write, just concentrate on formal constraints and everything will be back in order.

Listen to your hero!

OK, back to work now, I swear I won't be back for a while...

The best thing to do is drag this fear out into the light and confront it head on.
1. Do the math. You may lose your inspiration and you may not. That's makes it a 50% chance of happening or not.

2. Lets say you do lose inspiration. Think of all the material you will have gathered for when your inspiration returns! In fact some people's best work has come from these experiences. If you don't go on the journey then you risk missing out on the inspiration. It's a catch 22 situation.

My advice, embrace what comes, good or bad. Learn from it and tell others in your own individual and artistic way. Do you really think writers and poets and other artists are constantly inspired? Look at Van Gough and try to figure out what was going on in that guys mind! Please don't try cutting off your ear! Lastly, watch the movie "As good as it gets". That should set your mind at ease. Good luck!

There's negligibly little that can be said of inspiration. Thomas Edison says that genius is 99 percent perspiration and 1percent inspiration. Michaelangelo painted the famous ceiling of the Sistine Chapel with his position contorted.

Then you write about that experience... Inspiration is okay as far as it goes, but it cannot be relied upon...lol... it seems you try to limit your poetry to those things you are familiar with... it is strange how some people find comfort from that which they do not know, and call it inspiration! I would say you fear what may happen . It is this failure to meet challenges that will be your humbling... explore it... For example, Edgar Alan Poe hardly let fear stand in his way... he embraced it...'that is not dead which eternal lies, yet with strange eons, even death may die'! Think about it... lol.

What you're referring to is what we called writer's block. Don't worry, if there would come a time like you can't seem to squeeze out creative juices from you. It's normal. And I believe we never ran out of inspiration. it's just there waiting for us to find it. And honestly, I can't seem to imagine what will happen if inspiration just disappears like a puff of smoke. I guess our civilization will rotten down till it turns to dust. Pretty scary scenario.

The inner thoughts and emotions that you usually become aquianted with in writing them down (poetry), will make a suprise debut in your spoken language when you are angry, frustrated, hurt, excited, bubbly, etc. You really don't want that happening, because these are emotions that should stay hidden. Writing them through poetry helps us confront them, before they escape in real world.

Honestly, you are exaggerating, perhaps to maintain a captured audience! All creative's (I should know) are complex beings; temperamental; prone to temper tantrums; fits of pique; depths of despair; the thrill of the act of creation. Just accept that you are a highly creative soul. That you asked, just shows me that you are creative, and extremely aware to have asked! Be you. Be happy. It will always be there. Trust me. It doesn't dry up...you are in the river of life. Any doubts? Just ask your guides to help....you'll always get it.
