How to tell Popcorn texture from popcorn asbestos?

Question

How can you tell the differnce without getting it tested?

Someone told me that if the popcorn texture is not hard i.e softer texture that will crumble without wetting then it should not have asbestos.

Can anyone with expertise tell me how I might be able to tell without getting it lab tested.

I have seen some popcorn ceiling and mine looks different, as it is not hard it just like styrafoam

most new popcorn texture is made with styrofoam beads. within 10 years you should know if it was asbestos!

It was outlawed in 1978, but suppliers still had alot in stock and it was used up into the 80's

In most cases it is hard to tell. The only sure way is to have it tested.
