If you have tried everything else, be rude. Not in a hurt-full way but a way he knows that you are not interested. If you have tried being subtle and he doesn't get the message be blunt and to the point.
Its a horrible thing to do but i have a thing where i hate guys coming on to you when your out having a good time. Its not that i don't like them speaking to me or vice versa. If a guy comes over and speaks to me like a person and not a prospective date i am chatty and nice. If he came over and did what you are saying i would first try to get him to back off nicely if that didn't work i'd be frosty and make sure he got the message.

I think you have to be very direct. You don't have to swear, but you can say "I don't want to dance with you". If he persisted, I would tell him "I'm not interested in you". I would just keep saying this. Be a broken record.

You tell him NO and if he doesn't get it you go to security and let them know that he is bothering you and will not quit. Guys that will not take no for an answer turn out to be dangerous later.

It depends on how desperate the person is...You can always do a small smack on the head so he knows you mean business.
