A million years BC (in fact all those cave men genre films)
The time machine was set in Victorian England even if the hero does go forward in time.
Frequency (I think with Dennis Quaid) was set simultaneously in the past and future.

There was one a while ago... not too long, that had some scientists, from the future, that were transported to the past, got stuck there, then one was rescued, but went back to get the others, but forgot to reset the time machine...
Yeah, it was kinda cheesy.
