So my friend got into this arguement during baseball for our Gym class. Our teacher doesnt know how baseball works ( Sad) but anyways, so i was on first base and before as soon as the pitcher began to get ready to throw i was moving away from the base towards 2nd. And so he calls me a cheater cause im moving towards second base before the batter hits the pitch. Im no baseball expert but i believe that moving away from the base before the pitcher throws it at the batter IS ALLOWED? He keeps yelling me a cheater and says he knows i cant do that because he played baseball in middle school. God middle school dont teach you the right rules anyways... so whose right?

it depend on the age level of the league. where i grew up until you were 13 the bases were only 60 ft apart and leading off was not allowed. we could steal a base but you could only leave the base after the catcher had caught the ball making it a little more fair for the catcher.
after 13 years old the bases were now 90 ft apart and leading off and stealing was legal at anytime

Using MLB rules you can lead off any base and run at any time, but if Little League rules apply you can not lead off any base until the baseball delivered from the pitcher is across home plate. You are not out if you leave the base too soon you just have to go back to the base you were on.

At young ages, you cannot lead off in baseball. Even in the Little League World Series, they cannot leave the base early, and that's at 13 years old. Other leagues have different rules. Above there, though - it is legal to lead off the base, and even steal. Your teacher just needs to establish the rules up front, so everyone knows, and he doesn't have to accuse anyone of cheating.

In little league softball if you leave the base before the ball crosses home plate, you are called out.

it varies from league to league.
in high school on up, you can lead off before the pitcher pitches. but the pitcher can throw to the base instead of pitching it to try to get you out.
in most younger leagues and in softball, you have to wait on the base until the ball leaves the pitcher's hand.

No in any little league you cannot lead off untill the pitch crosses the plate (I was an ump for 6 years)
No not unless your playing in a real league if its gym class you cant lead off thats common sense

in softball you cant moveoff the base till the ball crosses home plate.. in baseball you can ruin at ANY TIME as long as the" ball/game is in play".. all leagues havediffrent rules .. you find out what the rules are and stick w/ them.

hes secure,,, by using fact the 1st baseman desperate to the touch the 1st base first that eradicated the rigidity out a 2d, cuz he wasnt compelled to run there, so he couldve rotated and went back to 1st base if he had to,,,
