There are many types of people on earth. There are many people you've met personally too.

Some people, usually the elderly, become notable for their wisdom. Most cultures have people who are considered wise. They are revered and honored. Sometimes age is not the reason. There are young people who seem to be well grounded and are able to see "the whole picture."

I can't really say that about the US where I live. Many times the eldely relative is shuttled off to a nursing home when it becomes inconvenient for the adult children to take care of them. I'M NOT SAYING EVERYBODY, just "some."

So, at what point, would you say, do people become respected within their milieu for their wisdom and the good advice they offer freely?

One more tiny question: Who do YOU consider "wise?"

I believe wisdom can come at any age but wisdom usually come to those who have experinece a struggle in life or experience something tramautic not nessary them experiencing it but possibly by observing the experience of others. I am living proof of that. I consider myself wise cause by observing the mistakes of others I learn how to survive through life and remain a strong person through trials. A person can become wise once they realize who they are not what others say who they should be.

It's a cliche but wisdom comes I think when you realise that you don't know ALL the answers, but have a good record on the ones that matter. Remember when King Solomon wanted to cut the baby in half?

Wisdom is even harder to define than intelligence, and that's impossible. If we accept that wisdom is the ability to apply one's knoweldge to the vicissitudes of life and secure a favourable outcome without harming others, then obviously very few living people qualify.
