The spurs are the defending champs and still are until the end of this season. So they should be the favorites and i believe they have the best shot simply because they still play better defense than anyone and are a team that plays extremely smart especially in the playoffs.
Some think the Jazz could give them a run for their money. The jazz have chemestry, 2 all stars and core of young players that have shown they can play with the best. But watching last years matchup between them it seemed the spurs had years on the Jazz and i dont believe that can be erased in one year. In the closing game the spurs frustrated the jazz to no end until the jazz just collapsed mentally and started fouling jump shooters and took themselves out of the game. I dont think they have matured enough and can only prove that by beating them.
The suns are the same and actually have gotten worse on Defense with the loss of Kurt Thomas.Hill's health always makes him a question mark. They also have some youth on their team and that costed them last year when Amare got ejected over a foul call. He's a vetran and should of reacted accordingly.
The nuggets are the same team as last year and their mediocre record proves it.
The rockets could possibly be the team to dethrone the spurs. But they do not have vetran leadership at pg, and the spurs can make it difficult for yao by throwing a combination of duncan, oberto, horry and mayb uduko at him. Tracy will score and Yoa should be huge regardless. Battier has yet to prove he can play in the playoffs so it will be interesting and should be a really good matchup.
The celtics will be the toughest team to matchup against. But if anybody can d them up it will be the spurs and any kind of foul trouble for the Celtics would be catastrophic because they do not have a bench at all.
GO SPURS!!!!!

Finals, assuming the Spurs will be top seed in the west or at least 2nd seed with suns being top seed, either way, they will meet at the conference finals.
Spurs in 4 if start at home
Spurs in 6 if Suns start at home.
The way spurs has been playing, they could outlast most teams because they don't run an up-tempo offence so they don't need to waste energy on the running. Spurs also looks very strong so far, i think they have a chance to become the 2nd overall in both conferences, only suns and boston and rockets can contend for the top seed at the moment. I have no idea what's going on with Dallas, so im going to rule them out for now and give them 4th seed behind rockets. Suns are just one of those teams who can score with the best the NBA has to offer and even though their defence aren't their strong point, their offence will help them win games, but the way they play would not get them past the WCF. Only chance is if Spurs get knocked out before they play each other, which is highly unlikely. Defensively, i have no doubts the Spurs can contain Boston's Big3, whether it is slowing them down or not, the Big3 will not be able to play at their best. Look for one of the Big3 to shine however, while the other two become double team lures.

you cannon actually made sense.. You see the Jazz and the Spurs are an equal team except that Spurs are veterans and Jazz are still green. WIth the given playoff experience last year , they have a 50/50 chance of beating the Spurs. Boston also has a chance because they are definitely for real.( No 40+ year old superstars, no whinners, no fake injuries , no massive egos that the Lakers had in 2004)

I doubt spurs can win champion again, maybe not even in final, Rocket is doing very well due to Yao best perfomance so far, if rocket can keep healthy all season can be true rival to spurs, Also Boston is a huge problem for spurs, i sure the celtic can easily dominate the playoff. They got the most veteran talents player in 1 team.

1 thing is for sure right now, spurs will be in the playoffs!come playoffs,it will be different story!im a spurs fan since duncan came but i can see trouble with houston and phoenix because of yao ming!(he's the most dominant center in the league right now)in the east, celtics is unbeaten right now but still i doubt if they'll dominate the league!cavs still has the threat!
spurs will be dominant as ever and i think their defense improved and if im right, spurs still the team to beat this year!

suns - with the departure of kurt thomas, phoenix has problems in the middle.
mavericks - dallas has some issues to resolve, particularly those pertaining to golden state
rockets - houston has certainly upgraded its lineup.
jazz - 1 year later makes them 1 year older. not necessarily better, just a little bit more experienced.
nuggets - who's the leader of this bunch?
i pick the rockets to give the spurs the most trouble
duncan has always played his best ball in the most important of games, and he has always matched up well against garnet. the spurs are also quite familiar with allen's game and know how to defend him. and there's a litany of spurs players that can guard pierce. put elson on garnet, bowen on pierce, manu on allen, parker on rajon, and you'll have duncan free to roam around. run the ball whenever the opportunity arises to take advantage of boston's lack of depth. otherwise, have parker abuse the boston guards and/or post duncan as much as possible and force boston to foul alot.
spurs will have a huge advantage over boston in a 7-game series because of their experience, chemistry, style of play and a bench filled with savvy role players. spurs in 6.

spurs all the way!! i love that team, they are the epitome of unselfish basketball. ppl say they are boring but they get it done dont they?? yeah with duncan, parker and ginobili, they will win.
the only reason they didnt win 2 years ago(i think) was b/c of fishers lucky garbage shot...i still say he didnt get it off in time...
but another ream i would like to see win it is the mavs. dirk is as hungry as ever and he, j. terry, and the gang deserve one, i mean the spurs always win it.lol :P oh i cant wait for the mavs-spurs game on thurs.....my 2 fav teams...YAY!
yea the celtics team is smashing(garnette, pierce, allen make a badass line up) but, idk, it will be interesting to see them in the finals...

The Spurs will make it to the Western Conference finals and face the Jazz again, but this time a better and more experienced Jazz squad will defeat the Spurs in 7 before beating the Celtics to win their first ever championship. This will begin their reign as the new powerhouse in the West.
