People tend to live in the past. For some it is better than the present. And it is a question people. Read it again!
I would rather not live in either, but I have no choice.

That is very true for some, but not all. Social awareness is one thing and adaptability is another.
The past is something to learn from to present your future with better scores, but dwelling in the past only fogs the mind in what reason lays in the past to dwell on it.
For instance if you make a mistake like the ten-year old boy did in California playing matches and now he has to live with that mistake and his future will dwell in the past because it's hard to forget that you caused over one-billion dollars in damages for playing with matches.
Psychological scars affect everyone with many particulars roaming inside the veins in our blood. They have a course and we have to guide ourselves in a direction to evade the past and frequently ponder on it for reasons unknown. Life goes on!!

Actually we can only live in the present the past and future are but tools of the imagination or our sense of cogent application. Also one can only effect reality in the present in which we live. Stand in the present be aware of the past and point to future .

Technically you're not living in the present if you're dwelling in the past.
But I'm sure you were already aware of that, seeing that you speak English so well...

.... Yes? Some people do. I fail to see where this lands as a question, however.
