The question as to who is better - Kobe or Lebron - is difficult to answer. There really isn't a clear better player among the two. Kobe is to my belief a better individual player than LeBron. What that means is Kobe can do a lot of stuff by himself without the help of his team-mates. Lakers for the last couple of seasons have fielded a very average team, to say the least. But Kobe is still the man amongst points ... remeber that 81-pt burst against Toronto?? And if you see Lakers' games you'll easily see Kobe dominating the court. This was different way back towards the beginning of the decade when the Lakers had a brilliant team. Kobe didn't score as much then as he does now, but the Lakers still won 3 in a row...
As for LeBron, he reminds me a lot of Jordan in the 80s. An awesome player in a sub-standard team, and then slowly making the team better and better. The transition that the Cavs have made since acquiring LeBron is pretty clear. From lowly team that failed to make the playoffs, they are now the second-best team in the NBA (w.r.t. last season) and to my belief LeBron is a better team player than Kobe, and perhaps the only one in the NBA at the moment who can somewhat become Michael.

You'll get many different answers as to who is better among the two ... my word for it - Kobe is the better individual player, LeBron the better team player.

As of right now you have to go with Kobe. He is a better shooter, scorer, defender, more clutch, and not as cocky as Lebron. Kobe also wants to win more and has more passion. However, Lebron is still young and will probably be better than Kobe in a few years due to his better passing and more of a team mentality. However, this is not a fair argument because Kobe's teammates suck. During the summer on the USA National team Kobe's scoring was down but his assists were up. Place Kobe on a team that can play and he will be getting as many assists as Lebron. In conclusion: Kobe is the best player in the NBA right now but Lebron still has some years left to develop.

Here's the tale of the tape

Kobe: 3 Rings, 81 point game, scoring titles in 2006 and 2007, 9 time NBA All-star, 2 time NBA All-star MVP, 5 time All NBA First Team, 5 time All-NBA Defensive Team

Lebron: 26.7ppg, 6.5 rpg, 6.7 apg career stats, Led a Cavs team without a fellow star to Finals appearance, NBA Rookie of the year, 3 time NBA All-star, one time All-NBA First Team

I would have to say Kobe, just because of his body of work exceeds Lebron's, but only by a little. You can say Kobe won those 3 rings because he had Shaq with him, while Lebron took a star-less Cavs team to the Finals. But the Cav's run last year wasnt THAT impressive if you think about it, because all they had to do was beat a Wizards team missing Gilbert Arenas AND Caron Butler, their two main guys. So, Kobe wins, for now, but Lebron definitely has time to catch up!

individually speaking, kobe is a better in terms of skill compared to lebron as of now... he can shoot, he can dominate, he's not afraid to shoot (ofcourse) during clutch and has so many moves under his arsenal... he can shoot from outside, he can finish inside and his showmanship is way better than lebron...

lebron has youth, height, passing ability (which kobe still chooses not to use), speed, hype and POWER.... the problem with lebron is that he greatly depends on his height and power.... i think he is not what he is today if he's not that powerful... you take away his legs, you take away his game... but i am saying that ON THE TIME BEING... the guy's young and he can improve (if he wants to)... but one thing that lebron has that kobe doesn't is that lebron makes his team mates look better... he knows and chooses to pass most of the time.....

lebron overpowers his defenders, kobe shoots his way against his opponents.... lebron can be better in the future if he will develop that killer instinct... that separates kobe from lebron because bryant obviously has that already.... but in the future, we cant say... maybe lebron can someday be better if he chooses to...

final answer: lebron james...
reason: you want him on your team because he makes use of his teammates.. unselfish and a passer... and still has the potential to get better... hahaha
