Sure.. 9 months is perfectly normal. I've seen some babies walking at 7 and 8 months. But generally most babies seem to learn to walk around 9 and 10 months.
As for skipping the crawling stage.. babies who only sleep on their back, they say that it's not unusual for them to skip crawling and go right to walking.

My son walked at 8mths 3 weeks old and it looked so weird because here is this little baby cruising around the house!
He only crawled for a really short time before he just upped and walked. I think he wanted to follow his big sister around!
Just go with it and start re-baby proofing the house for all the things that are now in reach!
best of luck

no longer something is accepted so it must be next month or in some months. with any luck no longer too quickly except u think of he would be waiting. I walked at only grew to become 9 months and 2 of my 4 teenagers have been particularly early too. yet precise now he has the better physique power and gets an incredible style of decrease physique power whilst he makes use of the settee or despite the fact that to go around. Then he will have the skill to stability.

Most babies take their first steps sometime between 9 and 12 months and are walking well by the time they're 14 or 15 months old. Dont worry! Just make sure your able to keep up with the child once they start running! =)

Oh don't worry. My now 20 year old (and oldest son) started walking totally without holding on when he was 9 months old. I will never forget it. It was on a Sabbath day and we were eating dinner with friends, chatting away, when suddenly in the center of the room he let go and just started walking on his own!
Suffice to say I was shocked, but it was even funnier to see people's reaction when this little doll-like child would walk around in the supermarket as we shopped! :-)

My twin brother started walking at 9mths too, but I waited until I was over a yr old if I remember right from my parents (I'm a girl). I take it boys typically walk earlier than girls from what I've read. My daughter waited until she was 13mths old to take her first steps without having to hold onto someone's hand or push her little dolly stroller/chair or whatever else as she was (still is) VERY cautious.
So yes, there are a number of other 9mth olds that are walking but it is early as most wait closer to their first birthday. Now that he can walk make extra sure your house is childproofed. Expect him to try to pull things down from tables/drawers, try to climb stairs even more than before. Soon he'll be running... once they start they never stop.

My niece started walking just after passing the nine month mark. My daughter waited until about 11 months. That is on the early side of the normal range for children learning to walk. Congratulations, just wait until he starts to run!

Most of the people in my immediate family walked at 9 months. Funny thing is we are all good dancers and were good in sports.
