Liberal (though not too liberal, liberal with a sense of responsibility and maturity) because I believe open-mindedness has wider reach to fellow human beings, understanding them better. Although they may be from a different background, you will make friends with them easily.
Moreover being liberal makes you accept things. It saves you from pains.

I'm libervative when I'm not being conseral.
That is I don't believe that a person can be squeezed into such narrow definitions. My feelings on issues are like pickets in the overall fence of opinions. But in the end, after I am all added up I guess that I am a moderate conservative, but I'm not going to bet my life on it because in any discussion about any matter I could be as easily labeled as a liberal or a conservative - depending on the listener. Hence, my reluctance to try to dedicate a name to my personage.

Conservative:
I believe that States Rights not federal government should be the primary form of governmnet in US. So, whatever we can do to reduce federal programs the better. I believe that states have a better understanding of its peoples needs and are better able to get something done to solve issues. By contrast, the federal government is a consensus government for all areas of the country. What works for people in one region doesn't work for people in another.
Yet, Federal government doesn't allow for this.
This does not mean that ALL laws and governance should be from a state level though. Federal level is needed also, just not near as much as we have currently, particularly regarding social programs.
For example: With a larger Federal Goverment - a circuit court decision from California may set precident at the federal level to institue a change in federal law to abolish: Saying Pledge of Allegiance in School, Removing Nativity Sceens in Public Places, Removing the word "GOD" from all public edifices, currency, etc.
These are examples of how one area of the country imposes its will on another and creates dissent.
Other examples:
Conservatives believe:
- in a competitive market place.
- few if any labor Unions.
- doing away with anything that has to to with
being Politically Correct.
- Putting convicted criminals in jail - FULL TERM.
- Competition in schools - no more of this everybody wins stuff. Some win -some loose. Prepare kids for the real world and stop trying to sugar coat the world for them.
And most recently, Conservatives are "Up in Arms" about the prospects that a 13 year old can get birth control pills at school without a parents concent - while at the same time I have to approve in writing for my child to have a simple asprin in school.

Socially liberal and fiscally conservative. I am a California Republican. Not sure what that means? Look at our governor.
He hates goverment waste, wants to spend money responsibly, and has no problems taking on a hard decision.
I don't care what you do in the bedroom, I just don't want to have to pay for lazy government workers.

Liberal, because I believe in family values. I have a responsibility to my community and my family, as well as other people who are not like me. I do not value money over people. I stand up for what I believe in, despite the bullying for years from the right side. Plenty of Limbaugh Lemmings out there.
But! It is a good thing the tide is turning............

Conservative leaning a little toward being moderate.
I have tended to want to keep things that have been proven to work, but I think a true thinking person also wants to improve those things. The moderate in me accepts changes while the conservative in me resists changes for change's sake alone.
