Find and do simple things that make you happy.
1. Play with a dog/cat, or a small child
2. Exercise
3. Watch the sunset
4. Help someone who needs it ... volunteer somewhere
5. Draw or write, or another creative outlet
Keep it simple and good luck!

Hmmm . . . I usually sleep it off. Sometimes that doesn't work, so I go see friends or spend time doing fun stuff. It also helps to do something that improves your life in general. Good night!
Oh yeah, some people mention god. Religion is a very temporary fix. When people feel SO very bad, most people like to fall back on some kind of god. Let me be the first to tell you that it doesn't work -- it's all in their minds. All the praying in the world will not improve your life or make your problems go away (unless your only problem was having too much time on your hands). Religion will not make you happy. You have to find that strength within yourself. It's very late here so I won't go off on that tangent. I just thought I'd save you heartache by giving you a summary of my findings through the years. Good night!

Don't allow yourself to think of the past for more than a second.
Don't run through the reasons you're upset over and over again -- you're poisoning yourself needlessly.
Don't smoke pot or stay up late -- those both screw up your ability to maintain a normal, balanced mood.
If you're dealing with depression on what seems like a regular basis, talk to a counselor and look into antidepressants.
The most important thing to do is focus on the things you CAN change, and stop dwelling on the things you CAN'T change (the past, the color of your eyes, society, the price of a gallon of milk, etc.)
You should read information about meditation...just my opinion.

While I am in my dark room and the depression I have reaches rock bottom I try to realize that I am the only person at my Pity Party. In my case my wife who understands my mental problems comes in and helps me cry it out. It is not an easy process. In the end I begin to realize that I have been here before and I have always managed to climb out of this dark hole better. Good support and trying are the only way to climb. I will add that I get excellent Mental Health Service and Medications.

I make something. Making something new brings new life into the world without babies (they're noisey). Making something also makes you feel more accomplished, and at the end, you can give whatever you've made to someone else.
Giving and charity help you feel less isolated, and more integrated. Who knows, someone might give back!
-Have a great day and make something beautiful!

Eat chocolate, watch Pride and Prejudice, pray, have a shower, get lots of sleep, then get over it.
