I am an Indian. I was being tortured mentally/physically and econimically by my husband and his parents. After 4 years of tolerating this i launched a crimial procedure under IPC against them and i dont stay with my husband for past 2 months, before being thrown out by husband i was 1month pregnant. Husband and in-laws are currently on bail. The case is in court and will take own course. Recently i saw an advertisement from my husband seeking alliance for this second marriage,i reported to police but they could not help because i am a muslim. Husband told police that he is entititled to marry 4 times. I dont want to divorce him untill the judgement of this case is over and i dont think i can do this also.
Can he really marry without divorcing me or informing me that he is getting married. Also i investigated and found that he is not informing the second would-be wife that he is already married once.

If you live in North America depending on the State or Province you reside. You cannot marry again unless you are first divorced it is otherwise considered polygomy and is illegal in most parts of the world. One wife at a time period.
Inform the police he is going to do this and then they will look at inforcing governmental laws it does not matter that he is muslim. If he is living in Canada or the USA he must follow the those Laws not the laws of his homeland.
You do not say where you live that would help with getting better answers.
God Bless and Best of Luck. I hope the courts charge them good what a brutal family to treat you this way.

You need to say which country you are living in and the nationality + residence of your husband and other wife.
In Britain , Sharia law is not compatible with British law.
You need to see a lawyer quickly, probably you can get help or free costs in the UK. Don't delay.
If you are Muslim you should know that your husband should treat all wives equally although as he has already thrown you out it is clear that his motivation for further marriage is not to be a good Muslim.
Try to let the other would -be wife know.
This behaviour is not unusual and you need legal advice as soon as possible not only for your financial security but also for your health, you need to be protected and cared for, can your family help?

you can not marry without the wifes consent n definatly has to inform second wife as the new marriage is already based on mistrust what kind of a marriage will it be.
if u r being mistreated so much why the hell r u with him,y r u allowing ureself to get hurt...there are plenty of guys out there will treat u good..if ure pregnant theres no shme in bringing it up ureself.y would u want to with a family like that i feel sorry for ure un born child it would be unfair for it to grow up in an environment like that.tell ure family n speak to sum ppl hu will know islmic facts like a mousque.hope that helps
plus a husband HAS to treat wives equally.same size house, same amount of time spent with eachother etc..not possibe we are only human..they only did this in the prophets time as the ratio of women to men was very high..

i think your best solution would be to call a cleric in your local mosque; he should be able to assist you with your problem. however, i dont think he can legally marry another women in the USA when he is not divorced, he can possibly do so with an islamic arrangement, marriage license without a USA permit or certificate of marriage, but it will not be recognized by the USA. hope this helps, good luck!

If you are in UK, no he cannot marry again until such time you and he are divorced. It would be bigamy under English law. If he married in India then the British law would not apply, but then of course he would not be able to secure a visa for her to the UK.

It depends on the law of your country. In mine, a Muslim cannot marry again before informing his first wife(s). I think you should consult a lawer for that.

it's widely known that a moslem man can marry as many as 4 wives... to have a better understanding of ur situation, it will help if you seek the advise of an imam, or a sharia lawyer...
