You have asked the wrong question. Why is there a number one reason for divorce? Why is divorce rampant in our society? Why would anyone want to hurt the children in their lives, whom are innocent of wrong doing, by getting divorced?

I have included a few links below that I am sure will help both you and your ex find a way to put aside your petty differences and help you work together for the sake of your child. Studies show that equal time with both parents will make a child more likely to grow up emotionally well adjusted and healthy, and more likely to perform better in school and life.

God Bless

Frank Pytel

Misunderstanding and ego problem naturally. There should be a give and take policy between each other and should have patience to listen to each other in all matters. Thinking too much of themselves and not giving room to others feelings also would result indivorce. Marriage is like the railway track which will not meet yet it is important for a smooth goiing.

Lack of commitment to make it work no matter what. There is nothing that can't be overcome with determination. Everything posted here has been an issue in my marriage at one time or another. Help was always available if we were willing to accept responsibility for our individual contributions to the problem and make the goal remaining together.

marrage!

hollywood. the stars get married and diborced at the drop of a hat - for publicity. problem is that people see marrage as a throw away commodity because of it.

marrage isn't the sacred thing it used to be.

sexual incompatability too. one wants it a lot more than the other one. the one who wants it gets frustrated that they never get it and after a while they will cheat to find what they aren't getting at home. in the meantime, the one who doesn't want it feels pressured all the time to do something they don't want to do. (my first marrage)

Wow, good question. I thought it would just be where you're sick of each other and are too different but from the answers I'm guessing it is money. How sad.

On the surface it's money. But I read an article saying that the money "represented" something : lack of compromise, lack of generosity, lack of concern, greed, power, resentment etc..

ex) Ann wanted to use some of the joint $ to pay for her mom's hospital bills. Eric refused and Ann left him. Or, Ann went ahead and paid for her mom and Eric left her.
= lack of concern for her family & greed

ex) Ann makes more money than Eric and so she spends more on herself. Eric may resent her for hoarding joint $. Eric may resent her for having more power.
=resentment, desire for power

ex) Ann and Eric are making equal amounts and have $200,000 saved up school. Eric says he wants to quit his job and do his MBA with the $ Ann says she wants to quit and go to lawschool. Instead of compromising, they end up arguing and divorcing over it.

= Greed, lack of compromise, etc..

It never really is about $
