I can barely remember any details, but it's a short science fiction story, and from what I remember the style was rather similar to the beginning of the science fiction story in Margaret Atwood's The Blind Assassin. Anyways it's about these beings (I don't know if they're human or not) and they land on this planet and discover these memories of past human life there (I'm pretty sure its in a house?). Thank you for your help. I wish I could remember more.

You might mean a short story written by -- I think -- Arthur C. Clarke. It's about an automated house in the future. The house continues to function for awhile, even after it's occupants have been killed by a nuclear bomb -- ALL humans are dead, I think. For the life of me I can't remember the name of the story and it's one of my favorites! It's included in many 'Best Of' collections taught in schools -- or at least it USED to be. It's old, I first read it about 40 years ago!

Sorry I couldn't be of more help!
