I do not why American love football so much, and I want to know some qualities that make American love American football.

There is alot going on. There is the battle at the line, watch the center controling everything. Also watch guys with options, did the running back go out into the passing pattern or did he stay and block. Did the tight end go out or block. Then look at the defensive strategy. Are there 4 down line men or 3. are the Linebackers blitzing, are the reading and reacting off what the offensivfe line is doing, are they dropping back into pass coverage. Spend some time and learn the little subtelties of the game and you will love it

One of the qualities that separates humans from other animals is the hand with the opposable thumb. Soccer makes that miraculous mechanism irrelevant except for the goalie. The center, the quarterback, the running backs, the receivers, the blockers, the defenders, all must use their strength, wits, willingness to sacrifice their bodies to stop the play, reactions to get to the ball, incredible intelligence to read a play. The brilliance of a simple play like a play action pass, the discernment of the defender to read the play and properly defend it. The underlying athleticism of each player in having to perform his role in each play.

As an American citizen, I apologize for the ignorant and rude answers posted to your question. While many American football fans are indeed "normal" citizens, there are a good number of people who are also without any class or intelligence. It looks as if a few of them answered your question here with racist and rude comments. Don't take it personally, though. Just ignore their comments.

The sheer intensity and action in football along with the elements of strategy that are unrivaled in all of sports is what hooks me. It is something most Amercians have known since they can remember and allegiences to favorite teams run deep.

Simple. We (Americans) love competitions that show off our strength and endurance and show off our athletic ability. I know those same qualities can be found in soccer, but all they do is RUN and KICK. Boring! The thing that seperates the two sports is physical contact. That's what Americans crave. Seeing someone get knocked the hell out is just great!
