So I dropped out of high school few days ago because of low income problems and I have to work on a job to get some money for family and also because high school was so full of problems for me. I'm 16 and working right now. Does anyone know where can I take the exam for GED so I can go to college later on?

http://www.ccc.edu/ to find the closest Chicago "city college" (community college).
You will encounter a big problem, if you are under the age of 18 and enroll in the GED program you are not allowed to take the test until you are 18. You must remain in the program until you are 18 (when you can take the exam). So you have two choices, 1. Enroll and stay in the program til you're 18
2. Wait til your about 17 1/2 to enroll

There are other options, you can join Lincoln's challenge, 6 month program and you get paid when you complete it

Or you can call your local city college and ask about something called "middle college" I'm not too sure what this is but it is an alternative to the GED. I called the college closest to me to find out about this, had to leave a message for someone, she never called back. My brother stopped attending school when he was 15, he's pretty much in the same situation as you (but he has a baby).

To be honest, your best-bet is to stay in school. Get a part-time job and have your family apply for LINK http://www.dhs.state.il.us/ts/fss/dhs_foodStamps_fsai.asp

Nothing beats a HS diploma. If you do pursue a GED I do hope you attend college, a GED is nothing unless you have something beyond it.

I would recommend that you formally withdraw from school and go to one of the city colleges of chicago (whichever one is closer to you) and get into one of the continuing ed classes. You can take your GED classes at night and I believe you may be able to simply take the exam. The website is

You can't drop out a high school at age 16 anymore. They increased the drop out age to 17. A GED does not equal a high school diploma. Go to evening high school and get your diploma.

Check with your community college. They usually offer them. My husband got his at Waubonsee CC, Elgin CC has it, I'm pretty sure College of Dupage does, too. When we lived in Ohio, he was taking classes at the local community college there, so that is your best bet.

Check out this web site, it has a great study guide for the constitution test: http://www.southwestern.cc.il.us/adultbasiced/constitution/
