There are four things wrong. Is the assignment to fix grammar or make bad writing into good writing?

To fix the grammar, the verb tenses need to agree:

It is not an easy task to reduce or eliminate poverty.
or
To reduce or eliminate poverty is not an easy task.

To fix the deadly style, get rid of the weak infinitive, get rid of the weak word "task", and get rid of the useless negative, which just slows down the reader:

Reducing or eliminating poverty is difficult.

Yeah, it's not quite right. It would be better if it said something like, "Reducing poverty is not an easy task." It's more effective if the topic at hand is at the beginning of the sentence.
It's also not very concise. Furthermore, saying both "reducing" and "eliminating" in that context is superfluous. If you say that reducing poverty isn't an easy task, it's inferred that eliminating poverty would also be difficult.

The sentence has correct grammar and punctuation. However, it can be improved.

The sentence is in passive voice instead of active voice. Therefore you could say "poverty reduction or elimination is not an easy task" or "reducing or eliminating poverty is not an easy task."

I think it should read: It is not an easy task to reduce or eliminate poverty.

Task is a noun and the way "for" is used is incorrect. It just sounds wrong. I don't know the rule being violated, but it just doesn't sound right. Good luck.
