I answered a question like this a few months back and I found my answer to it. Here it is:
Orson was having an affair with a woman named Monique. One day monique had issues with her plumbing so Mike who is a plumber came to her house. Afterwards mike realized that he forgot a tool so he had to go to the hardware store.
While Mike was at the hardware store, Orson's mother found out that Orson was having the affair. So Orson's mother killed Monique at her house after Mike left. Later on Orson shows up at the house and finds out that his mother killed Monique.
Mike shows back up to Monique's house and tries to find her but instead finds Orson. Orson doesn't want Mike to know that Monique is dead or else Mike would assume that Orson killed her and not his mother. Mike is a little weired out that Monique is no where to be found so he leaves but Orson gives him back the wrench that Orson's mother used to kill monique (with some of her blood on it).
*Also at the time mike and orson have never met each other.
Flash forward.
When they do the murder investigation on monique Orson gets scared that the plumber Mike might say something to the cops so Orson runs him over thinking that he will kill Mike. Mike survives but ends up in a coma for about 6 months or so. Orson at the time has no clue about Mike being in the coma. When Mike regains his memory he realizes that Orson was the one that tried to kill him because Mike knew about Monique and who he saw at her house the day she was murdered.

I think because Orson found out that Mike was suspicious about the death of Monique and thought that orson ahd killed her. So, he wanted to get rid of him and his ideas, cuz Mike was getting in the way of Orson's relationship with Bree. If you remember, orson was cheating on his wife with Monique, and his mother killed her, and Mike was helping out with a plumbing issue at Monique's house, and Orson gave him the wrench that was used to kill Monique.
