Are there any laws or legal issues associated with a person in Mexico wanting to buy my car? I live in U.S. and person contatced me through email wanting to buy my car. They are arranging shipping. Situation is a little odd. They dont want to call and talk to me about it, dont care if they see what the car looks like. They just said they will mail me a certified check and they will arrange shipping after the check clears my bank. I cannot find their name for any state in U.S. but he says he is from Texas. I wonder if he is from Mexico. Anyway, so long as check clears, am I in the clear too?

Yes... "as long as the check clears".

That's the point. I guarantee you that it won't. You'll deposit it in your bank, the next day your bank will show the funds as available, the guy will take your car, and about ten days later your bank will let you know that the check turns out to be fake, and they've debitted the money back out of your account.

IF you choose to do this, you must wait AT LEAST ten business days after the check is deposited to be sure it's not going to bounce before you let him have the car.

However, it's such a common scam that I guarantee it'll bounce.

THIS IS A SCAM. The "certified check" will be fake, but the bank won't find out right away -- they'll cash it, then call you later telling you it was a fake and they need their money back. Meanwhile your car is in Mexico and the buyer has disappeared.

The value ticket replaced into issued whilst the motor vehicle replaced into registered on your brother. Your brother continues to be to blame for the value ticket. circulate of call does no longer circulate criminal accountability. In an extreme hypothetical undertaking: in the adventure that your brother had powerful and run twist of fate and then offered the vehicle, the hit and run might nonetheless be your brother's accountability and does no longer circulate to the recent proprietor of the vehicle. regulation is regulation.
