umm well I don't think it really matters as long as you flash a big enough smile. Or you could mention the weather. Pretty lame I know but cliches are generally cliches because they work! Or say 'you're looking well' (to the ladies, elder gentleman may get the wrong idea lol) Good luck with it all anyways :)

I am thinking it would be impossible to keep up with what you say to every customer! For example: Today: "Good morning! How are you today?" Next week: (you have to think about what you said???) No stress...I think you can stick to one or two friendly comments. Just be genuine about it. How can I help you today? How are you this wonderful Tuesday? Thank you, and have a wonderful (nice, awesome, etc.) day! Just be you! :)

If you want less customers, hassle them to buy things they don't need or things that taste awful... and just go to work to a nice relaxing quiet time and no need to worry about what to say...

if they're the same customers it's important that you show them that you do remember them.. you might wanna ask them how they've been since you've seen them last.. shops i go into regularly some act like it's the first they've seen me and i think what a robot.. some however are the opposite are very nice..
