final fantasy

before video games, role playing games were played by pen and paper. you had to think about how to solve problems, get through dungeons, etc.. it's hard to change that from a format where you have a dungeon master that can decide if the players are able to do what they want to do or not.

in video games, since you can't have the computer decide if what you want to do is possible or not, it needs to have a definite way to be done. usually, you are some young hero, bent on saving the world, whether it wants to be saved or not. basically, actually, you play as a hero and while trying to solve your own problems, you end up accidently saving the world too. that is a definition (though not THE difinition) of role playing games today, more commonly known as RPGs

final fantasy was a fantasy based video game, where you chose your characters and classes, and fought against chaos from destroying the world. the company had been failing for years, so when they couldnt' think of a name, they called it their last fantasy. their final fantasy.

the game was gold. sales were phenominal. the game saved their franchise, so when they made another game, they also called it final fantasy so that their fans would know that it was a game by the same company that made the first game. it worked. people in japan bought it even though it wasn't that great of a game. however, since it wasn't what fans expected, they didn't sell it in the USA (until many years later). final fantasy III was the same thing. (the III is the roman numeral for three, for those that mightn't know). however, final fantasy IV (4) was great. they sold it in the USA too, but it was called FFII (2) here.

final fantasy X is simply the tenth chapter of the final fantasy world. the X meaning ten. it is not the tenth game, simply the tenth chapter. each game (generally) has nothing to do with the other games, with the exception of the tactics games, and the spinoffs of VII (7) and XII (12)

Final Fantasy is a series of role-playing video games, which is ironic since they are currently working on Final Fantasy XIII; not really "final" is it.

The first game was released in the late 1980's for the Nintendo game system. The most recent, Final Fantasy XII, was released last year for the Playstation 2. They have also branched into other genres, such as turn-based strategy (Final Fantasy Tactics) and an mmorpg (Final Fantasy XI, mmorpg = Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game, btw).

It is one of the most successful video game franchises ever created.

There has even been a couple movies released. Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within was a wide release in American theatres a few years ago.

Final Fantasy is a series of video games that have spawned a movie and lots and lots of rabid fans. The strange thing about it is that most of the games are not related to one another , beyond having some of the same animals and creatures, and some similarities in magics. It is a "role playing" series of games, in which the player's characters develop over the course of the game becoming stronger and more powerful.

The first games were more generic, with characters named by the player, but as the series has progressed, the characters have become much more ingrained into the stories.

Overall, the series is probably best known for its compelling characters, impressive music scores, memorable plot lines, and for being "the one that everyone copied" basically. Much of what is now common in role playing video games was started in Final Fantasy.

final fantasy has started a very long time ago. ff1, starts off with the warrior of light, up to cloud in ff7, along with sephiroth and his 13 foot katana. final fantasy is a quick based fighting/puzzle saga. they have new ones out already such as ffx, or ff10, and dissidia, available for many different systems. try out ff#7 first, it has the main character.

It consist of different realms (nearly each game has its own story line with a few exceptions)

Each game has different rules and fighting styles, monsters, weapons, characters, etc.

It has magic and melee fighting. Its an excellent series. FF7 is legendary. It is actually the game that revolutionized the Playstation. And how FF got its name is an AWESOME story also.
