Do Wah Diddy Diddy
As originally performed by Manfred Mann
A #1 Hit from 1964
There she was just a walkin' down the street singin'
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do
Snappin' her fingers and a shufflin her feet singin'
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do
She looked good (looked good) She looked fine (looked fine)
She looked good she looked fine, and I nearly lost my mind.
Before I knew it she was walkin' next to me singin'
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do
Holdin' my hand just as natural as can be singin'
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do
We walked on (walked on) To my door (my door)
We walked on to my door, then we kissed a little more.
Oh, I knew we was fallin' in love.
Yes I did so I told her all the things I've been dreamin' of.
Now we're so happy nearly every single day singin'
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do
We're so happy and that's how we're gonna stay
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do
Well I'm hers (I'm hers) And she's mine (she's mine)
Well I'm hers and she's mine, wedding bells are gonna chime.
Oh, I knew we was fallin' in love.
Yes I did so I told her all the things I've been dreamin' of.
Now we're together nearly every single day singin',
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do
We're so happy and that's how it's gonna stay singin',
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do
Well I'm hers (I'm hers) And she's mine (she's mine)
Well I'm hers and she's mine, wedding bells are gonna chime.
Oh...Oh yeah
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do (We're singin)

Snappin her fingers and Shufflin her feet.Singin ........
...........Do Wa Diddie... by Manfred Mann
HEY KEEPROCK!!... Don't be upset.. . In early Beatles interviews... They always said their influences and idols were people like Little Richard and Chuck Berry.
It was 1964, I was 12 yrs. old and I had NEVER HEARD of Chuck Berry or Little Richard... DUHHHH, that is til the Beatles turned me on to their music. "Long Tall Sally", "Roll over Beathovan". The Beatles said their versions were done as a tribute to the masters.
It's all Good!
Manfred Mann also did "Blinded By the Light"...
written by... BRUCE(the Boss) SPRINGSTEEN...
betcha never heard his version of it.
Bruce said, "take it and run with it dude. "
Music is the universal language.....
Peace & Love from an old Hippie.

The song was originally recorded by The Exciters but Manfred Mann had the bigger hit with their cover of it. Essentially that was what the "Btitish Invasion" was all about. It was British groups having hits in the US with their covers of American R&B songs.

The EXCITERS.
about two years before Manfred Mann stole it and ruined it.
Lots of British hits in early 60's had been stolen from US originals, including Stones and Beatles

Sorry, I just don't like groups getting credit for inferior copies,
I've slapped my wrists and'll try not to do it again :)
