My friend and i we're using the restroom at work and as i came out of the bathroom i smelled a really fishy odor. I sniffed around and it was coming from my friend.

No one else was in the bathroom and i told her she had a really strong fishy odor around her. She got really pissed and called me a liar blamed it on someone else and stormed out.

If the roles we're reversed i would WANT to know if i smelled badly.

So now im asking if i was wrong for telling her.

I would want to know if I stunk. I think you did the right thing. She's probably more embarrassed than angry.

NO, but make sure that is where the smell is coming from. If you were in the bathroom the smell could have come from bad water maybe something someone threw in the garbage. Who knows?

I guess it depends on how close you two are! Are you absolutely sure it was her?? I always believe honesty is best, but only if you're 100% sure of yourself. If you are, then no, it was not wrong of you. She'll remember it, and if it was her that smelled fishy, she'll do something about it. Then again, you may have lost a friend. :(

That was kinda harsh. But I would like to know, if I smelled bad. You could have been more tactful about it, and say something like, "Did you have fish for dinner/lunch? I think you may have spilled something on yourself." Then she could figure out for herself that there was an odor coming from somewhere on her body, and take care of it.

ummmm, yes you were wrong......some women just have heavier odors and some women simply have certain times where their smell is more noticable.......
Remember, you would want someone to tell you IF AND ONLY IF you could actually do something to change it. She washes, she is not oblivious, she simply cannot help it at certain times. You would not want to be told that something was wrong with you if you could do nothing to change it. Just say sorry; I am sure she was just embarrassed by it.

well knowing u smell funny and having someone tell u is a very sensitive thing, yeah i would want to know but that wouldn't mean i don't feel bad in the end.

so let her know u didn't mean to hurt her, just that u thought it better that u told her not a stranger

It depends on how you told her.....did you use a little tact? There are ways of saying things to friends without being offensive. I don't think you were wrong in telling her....I wish I could be that straightforward....but how you did it could have been wrong.

Yes you were wrong for telling her that.
If YOU smelled it, you KNOW she did too!
She probably was VERY embarrassed about the odor and she might have caught a disease from her boyfriend that she is in denial about.
Yes you were wrong to comment

As my friend said the guy on the island said, "Whatever floats your boat". now for the REAL question, would you tell her if she had TOILET PAPER hanging down the back of her pants? I bet you wouldn't now so dont worry about it. Take care.
