and who do i contact to report a resturaunt incorrectly declaring my tips?

i mean they are declaring my tips on my paycheck, and they told me not to declare my tips anymore. but they messed up on my check overdeclared and now they wont pay me what i am owed.

It is really unethical to do that.try doing the internet search about department of labor of your state.They can probably answer your question better.

high class ones, or if you have a big party, generally do. I don't think it is illegal. In most cases, you can contest if the service is crap. But a lot of people these days don't tip well, and in our culture, waitstaff make low wages and it's expected to tip 15-20% if good. Less if bad and more if realllllly good.

Call the IRS. The restaurant can only declare what they pay you in salary. It is up to you to declare your tips. Unless they have recently changed the law to keep you honest. OK Val?

if a restaurant KNOWS the amount of your tips, they MAY LEGALLY report that amount on your W-2 earnings statement. IT IS OPTIONAL for the employer to do so--they do NOT have to do this. If you can PROVE the amount is wrong, ask the employer for a CORRECTED W-2. You cannot legally change this amount yourself.
