I personally believe it is just a sign of the times. Society has continued to decay and this is just another step in the process. Christians would not be surprised as we are told that in the last days man would no longer be capable of following sound doctrine and that there would be a falling away. The Lord holds the parents totally accountable for the upbringing of their children. Institutions such as schools etc., should never attempt to usurp this God given authority which cannot be delegated. Politicians who behave in this manner will not go unpunished by the Lord and on a wider warning, the bible states that "all the nations that forget God will be turned into hell" Mr. Schwarzenegger needs to read his Bible on a daily basis as it gives clear guidelines on how we should live. The Lord has brought down rulers and kings far more powerful than the Californian Governor who needs to be reminded that the Bible also states that "The Lord makes the nations to rise and He makes the nations to fall"

This is an exaggerated falsity. I am a California transplant in Texas, trying to get a degree. I can tell you without a doubt that Arnold didn't want this bill to go through and has vetoed it already when it went to him once before. If he really did sign it now that it's come to him kudos to him. The real wording of the bill DOES NOT negate the heterosexual community's role, why would a heterosexual do that??? The bill only allows for a more positive view on the homosexual relationships that actually do exist. It does not aim to make the homosexual relationship look any more attractive, just tolerated and accepted. Will it have an effect on other states? Hopefully. California being the fifth largest world economy does hold a lot of purchasing power. If it were to pass there kids elsewhere would learn that it is okay to be who they are as opposed to feeling suicidal or hopeless and alone. Anyways, these books are going to be hitting kids in junior high and high schools, not indoctrinating in any way since these kids will have gone through sex ed. years prior and will pretty much know where they stand in terms of sexual orientation. The only real dissapointment is how the radical right is portraying it to the uninformed world...

There are gay people in this world and we're not hiding anymore...deal with it. We're not going away and I support this bill.
Gender is culturally specific. Sex is male or female, but a female can identify with the masculine gender and vice versa.
Women weren't treated equally for a while after laws were passed declaring their equal status. We still aren't completely equal, it's an ongoing battle. But if we continue to instill in children that one man and one woman is the only (or only acceptable) way to live, then we are doing a grave injustice to our children, many of whom will be homosexual.

Don't get all flustered. You act as though this bill will change everything instantly. Change takes time and any rational person knows that. But this bill is getting the ball rolling on an issue that should've been dealt with a long time ago.

As for these "values" of the parents, if they're teaching children to judge and discriminate, then I think the world can do without those values anyways.

It's your choice whether or not to tell your child they have to be straight and gay is wrong, but eventually you'll be in the minority in doing so and your children will realize that you are very very very very very very very very very very very short-sided.

Fundie rhetoric aside you're completely incorrect.

SB 777 and AB 14 (the bills signed into law by Schwarzenegger) simply amend the public school mandatory anti-discrimination guidelines to match the criteria already defined by state anti-hate crime legislation. The laws also update some antiquated terminology like the change from "handicapped" to "disabled".

What Neil mentioned. some CA rules are surprisingly sturdy, some are not. i'd additionally upload, that quite some "California" rules that i've got heard human beings ***** approximately (severe helps required, smoking banned in residences, and so on) are actual interior of reach ordinances, no longer state regulation.

Wow now they are putting this stuff in schools now I think teacher have enough to worry about ....... That's pretty dang sad when our Gov Schwarzenegger has nothing better to then to pass laws about gay people and etc... I'm sure there is alot more he can do about the homeless around CA or he can even do something about the children who are having trouble in school there is alot going on in the world that he could be doing, but he doesn't care it seems like he only cares about what people do in the bedroom then what is important
