I have a few psychological problems myself and I know exactly what you are describing. I was diagnosed with depression at a young age and years later found out I was actually manic depressive. When you say you could be having a great time and then feel bad, I'd recommend you have bipolar disorder ruled out just to be safe. It does run in families and people with it have a higher chance of suicide (if you have thoughts of suicide go see a psychologist and there are some hotlines out there such as the nine line 1-800-999-9999). Have you tried telling your friends how you feel or let them now when you start to feel bad? My friends immediately try to make me feel better or give me a hug. I have anxiety problems and I choose not to take drugs for them but I go to my doctor about herbal remedies. Studies have shown that banana peels contain serotonin and can help you feel happier. For anxiety, I take kava kava tea but check with your doctor first.

I've felt discouraged a few times. Like one time my older brother was taking to me track & field practice and i told him i was drinking Gatorade and he told me that it has a lot of sugar and told me the dangers of too much sugar consumption. The more he lectured me the more i got more discouraged and emotionally upset. I tried to talk to him but it didn't help. By the time i got home, i felt like crying my eyes out a bit. But the next day, i forgot all about it.
