Are the Republicans history next year?

Yes, all indications point to a Democratic win in '08. That's with Hillary or without her. Despite those who believe the hype that she's unelectable, she'll mop up the floor with her Republican rival, whoever they might be. And if she's not the nominee, the bets are still on the Democrats.

The reasons why are so tied up together that they are almost indistinguishable: Disapproval of George Bush, unwillingness of the Republicans to stand up to him, scandal after scandal that has plagued them since before the mid-term elections, Katrina, a perception that the neocons have hijacked the Republican Party and corrupted it completely, the general smell of corruption and secrecy coming from the White House, the smear tactics Republicans depend on to win elections - Americans had enough of that to last them a lifetime in the last "swiftboating" election, most Americans just don't trust the Republicans any longer when it comes to fixing the mess in Iraq - time to give the Democrats a shot at it, the fear that their "cowboy" diplomacy is going to ignite WW III in the Middle East, the incredible debt we owe the Chinese that Bush has hogtied us to and the war debt our grandchildren will still be paying off when they die. There are so many reasons, it just goes on and on.

There are so many reasons why the Democrats will win.

Namely, people are sick of this Administration and their severe lack of any ethical conduct either towards Americans, to it's allies and even towards our enemies. We used to set the standard for the world to follow and this president has squandered all of the good will people felt for us post 9/11.
He has lowered the office of the Presidency and his cronies have besmirched and tainted this administration and I doubt he'll ever be seen as anything but a complete and utter failure.

He can't leave fast enough to suit me!

That's an easy question. I'm a Rep. and i know that there are no real popular front runners for them. They don't have anyone that stands out except Rudy and Thompson and there surrounded by controversy due to there pasts. The Dems. have a black and a female front runner. The popularity in that is so high that Rep.s don't have much of a chance to win.... that's not even including an unpopular war.

No way. Bush and company are there to stay. Even the conservatives will figure out you are in a fanatical religious dictatorship when their big fat belly's start shrinking and there isn't enough gas for their SUV's. But then they will just stand in the streets shooting their guns in the air and holding up pictures of other world leaders while chanting "Praise God"

Because Bush and his gang decided to run the the government based exclusively on the agenda they, and specially ,Karl Rove set up, instead of what was better for the country.

Everything was decided based on what would be the biggest political gain.

Initially, the people of USA hadn't noticed, but now they have and it's pay back time.

And don't get me wrong, none of the candidates is a dream come true for me.

If they do YIKES! Its no time for fun and games! We need the Republican party everywhere! This world is in for some serious trouble to go Demo now! Stop watching CNN people they are just actors pretty much. Dont let TV personalities affect your judgement- Most of them are already Democrats- helps them stay rich. Its not about money, its about saving the world now. Abortion laws never change anyhow- its all a circle of nonsense. We need to vote on who is going to save the world from harm- terriorists evil ,global warming and family values are the #1 issues.

so far, none of the Republican candidates has put together a clear vision of what he and his party

a) wants America to be

b) will do to achieve that

When the contest is focused something against unclear amorphous blob, the something (even if it is socialism in pants) is likely to win simply because it can energize its voters to go to the polling place.
