Reduce the election season in this country down to a few months, instead of a few years.
The problem with our political system, is we issue people to death and don't focus on the real issues. For instance, right now, the focus is on Hillary planting questions at town hall meetings, not what the candidates are talking about.
The best we can hope for with politicians anyway, is to get a general idea what direction they want to take the country. To take word for word what they say is akin to believing a used car salesman.
Shorten the season and it would force candidates to concentrate on the issues, not the garbage.
Peace
Jim

The pros of doing this would allow for every state to have an actual say in the primaries. I know most states, especially California, don't get to have a say because the candidate is already decided before they vote. The con of it would be the candidates can't campaign in the state right up until the votes. If it all happened on one day the candidates wouldn't be able to be in all the states at once, unlike the current system were the candidates can go to one state have the vote take place and then go to the next. Another pro/con is under the current system once the votes for the first primaries comes in, it usually sways the votes of the other states. Which gives the first states a lot more power then the other states, but that is how the system has worked every since changing to the primary system. In all I feel like a primary on the same day would be a more democratic system, because every vote would count. Under the current system its much like the electoral college, and not every ones vote counts.

The only issue is that many would not get the chance to meet the candidates in person before making a choice.
The Iowa Caucus is supposedly a sampling of America as a whole.

The leaders of the parties will not be able to effectively hold the nomination process due to simultaneous primaries in all states.

I think they should do away with the primary season altogether!
Have ONE election night allowing ANY qualified(according to current requirements) person to enter.Winner becomes president with the runner up being VP!

I have wondered aloud more than once about that very thing.
Especially now that the candidates start the campaign about 2 years before the election.
