I currently have an auction up on eBay on an expensive item ($300). Is it risky to ship the item to Chile? If I do happen to take the chance, what precautions should I take? Delivery confirmation, signature upon delivery, tracking? Also, what about customs?

Thanks.

Send it registered airmail, that's the most secure way. Included $45 of insurance but a signature chain makes theft unlikely. Total cost will be about $16 for a light item. The usual signature confirm doesn't apply overseas.

Another option is global overnight express, that can be insured for $300 but is very, very expensive ($50-$60).

Good luck, I've mailed lots of stuff overseas and never had an issue with registered airmail.

You'll have to fill out a customs form.

I wouldn't send anything outside of the United States.
