I am looking for a pretty cheap, like $200 - $300, keyboard to play around with. I've just recently started to play but I know it is something I want to do for the rest of my life. I'm so inspired, I love it!

Check out the Yamaha portable keyboards in your price range. I have a Yamaha PSR E403 and I love it! I have it stacked with a Casio CTK 691, which is similar in functions but different in sounds and rhythms. It cost me about $450, but it has a memory function for user voices, and it has the Hammond organ drawbar sound - and the "drawbars" are adjustable! The two keyboards compliment each other. I can even set the rhythm sections on the two keyboards going at the same time, and they'll stay in sync! (email me if you want)

Rather than list specific models this is a broader overview.

I'd be looking for 61 keys and with a velocity sensitive keyboard. You won't get a fully weighted keyboard with after touch new in that price range. Yamaha, Kawai and Roland make good keyboards (better than Casio). I'd also suggest looking at the used market as you may be able to pick up somthing like an 1980s DX7 at a good price and in good condition.

One Option is an older electric organ. Chances are you can pick up an old Thomas or Lowrey organ that was made in the 1970s or early 80s fr under $100 but you'll need a pickup to move it. Those units have superb organ sounds and great split keyboards (dual keyboards).
