What else is there worth striving for?(beyond our survival needs)

This is an ethics Q, please answer it as such. BTW ethical ideals include the moral virtues and all the religious and secular versions of the Golden Rule- so these are not part of the Answer to the Q.

We just strive for stable happiness beyond the survival needs..... it is in this quest, that we go through the various stages of materialism, altruism and then finally spiritualism......

It is my firm belief that striving for anything, even in spirituality, is just an expression of ego one way or another, and hence can not lead to permanent joy. Ego is our greatest enemy in this goal and I have yet to come across anyone who can truly and completely win over ego. However, it is of immense value to continuously be aware of and try to rein in our ego.

we strives for to be the greatest beast amongst animals and also to be as the biggest desire that's ever was of the big soul lives of this world.
