We just watched 2 hours worth of this topic on National Geographic and it is always the women who have circumcision, breast pounding, long necks brass rings, etc. to either "control" their sexuality or to keep them faithful, or prove their fidelity. Yet, men go through none of this, and it seems their fidelity/purity is not even brought up, like it is not even expected.

Because men are traditionally to support their offspring and they want to be sure it is their issue they are supporting, not some interlopers offspring. The difference is that male has to pay, and in this world money rules.

These practices came about long before DNA testing or similar methods of determining paternity, they had no other way to prove who the father was.

The bodily modification related to sexuality which is the most common worldwoide (about 15% of males in the world) is male circumcision. That was once thought to prevent masturbation and to make sex enough less pleasurable to keep men from cheating on their wives. There have been other excuses for it since then, none of them valid, but reducing the male sex drive was the reason it was popularized in Europe and the US in Victorian times. (Since it didn't lower hormone levels, it was not successful in making men less interested in sex, just in reducing their pleasure level.)

Well, I watched something where these 12 yeard old boys had to get circumsized with a dull knife in some tribe. It was SAD. I dont know if it was a right of passage or something to gain/decrease sexuality, though.
