Women have the false idea that everything in the couple should be shared. At least they feel the guy should share in all the female stuff, not that they would ever share in the male stuff.
Of course, to a woman, the baby shower is about the baby...and everyone should be there.(and, of course, it's not about the baby...it's about the women).

If you were the father-to-be then your appearance in the last half hour is expected, appropriate and polite so that you can 'oh' and 'ah' over the gifts and thank people. If it wasn't a couples shower and you weren't the father-to-be then you're wife owes you and the hostess an apology, in my opinion, because she was out of line to bring you.

As a woman, I freakin hate showers. They're lame, and they play all those horrible games, and talk about stupid stuff like a bunch of hens. I'd drag my husband along to make the misery more bearable.

Baby showers?! Yuck! I don't even like baby showers - they're frequently a microcosm of negative female energy, gossip, and phoniness, infused with cute baby paraphernalia. I try to stay away when possible, and would certainly never drag my husband to one.

I think co-ed showers ( jack and jills) are very common now. My poor hubby was "sent" to a baby shower recently alone ( I couldnt go bc of a sick babe). He and the "baby-daddy" were the only guys there :D. I think its great though that men go to baby showers.

Maybe she wanted to use you as an excuse to leave early. So they were talking about who was doing who? All the baby showers that I attend...everyone talks about child birth and babies so count yourself lucky that they talked about what you said or you might have gotten a gross retelling of someones childbirth......UGH!
